For this weeks assignment, we opened up UE4 and imported assets into the game engine.
We imported the UE4 mannequin into Maya for scale and made a simple cube.
We then brought our asset into Unreal and made a basic material with a fresnel light on it
After that I made a bunch of different material instances for the environment.
I took inspiration for my environment from this drawing made by Becca Hallstedt (https://www.artstation.com/beccahallstedt)
I strayed from the concept by a lot finding that it was difficult to make the desert scene look bright and colorful. I ended up just taking the overall theme of the concept and running with it.
I took a bunch of the cubes and changed their proportions to achieve the look. I want to experiment more with lighting since that gave me some issues and make more materials. Working in a node based system is new and uncharted territory but it's interesting.
